Panhandle PBS serves the Texas Panhandle by providing valuable local and national programming, children's programming and learning resources, community events and more. We are able to achieve these goals with your generous support!

PBS NewsHour, FRONTLINE, NOVA, and Washington Week keeps you updated with the latest and most reliable reporting on the pandemic and so much more. MASTERPIECEand Great Performances transport you with superb drama and music. Our local television, web, and social media are essential tools that keep Panhandle PBS a valued standard for information in the area.

Local programs like The Handle: Living While Black, The Number and Amarillo in Mind shine a light on issues that impact people in our area. Featured Programming

During our August membership drive, tune in to special programming including music from Ella Fitzgerald, Wynonna Judd and Andrea Bocelli, plus a celebration of the cultural influence of Monty Python, and two specials on Agatha Christie! Find all this and more on Panhandle PBS, August 14 – 22.

  • Country Pop Legends showcases music legends that united to perform their biggest and best-loved hit recordings from the 1950s, 60s and 70s in this My Music special. County music legend Roy Clark hosts this emotional trip down three decades of memory lane. It will air at 3:00 p.m. on August 14 and 9:30 p.m. August 21.
  • Daniel O’Donnell and Special Guests was filmed in front of a live audience at the Millennium Forum in Derry, Northern Ireland.  Daniel O’Donnell returns to PBS performing his favorite songs with special guests Charley Pride, Crystal Gayle and Una Foden.  It will air August 14 at 7:00 p.m. and August 21 at 9:30 p.m.
  • Based on James Herriot’s beloved books, All Creatures Great and Small on MASTERPIECE was the feel-good hit series of the winter, generating both large audiences and terrific reviews. All Creatures Great and Small: Between the Pages brings viewers behind-the-scenes and between-the-pages of the hit series to experience all the drama, humor and joy that preserves the rich spirit, tone and values of Herriot’s iconic characters and novels. It will air 6:30 p.m. on August 15 and 11:00 p.m. on August 20.
  • Monty Python:  A Celebration celebrates the cultural legacy and influence of the troupe.  This special pairs their original material with new and entertaining commentary from celebrities who consider Monty Python hugely significant, both personally and to the history of screen satire.  It will air at 9:00 p.m. August 16 and August 22 at 11:00 p.m.
  • Ella Fitzgerald was 15-years-old when she won a talent contest at the Apollo Theatre in Harlem in 1934. Within months she was a star. Just One Of Those Things follows her extraordinary journey over six decades as her sublime voice transforms the tragedies and troubles of her own life and times into joy. It will air at 8:30 p.m. on August 17.
  • Travel lovers have spent the last year or so dreaming of where they'll go post-COVID. In this unforgettable journey, Rick Steves shares vivid visits to some European favorites – off-beat, romantic, or just good for the soul – that he’d love to visit when we can travel again.  Rick Steves Europe Awaits will air 8:30 p.m. August 18 and 2:30 p.m. August 21
  • Internationally beloved Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli’s 2020 album Believecelebrates the power of music to soothe the soul and follows on his record-breaking “Music for Hope” performance on Easter 2020 from Milan's historic Duomo cathedral in the dark early days of the COVID-19 pandemic. It will air at 8:00 p.m. on August 20.
  • Originally broadcast from 1963 to 1966, Ready Steady Go! was one of the UK’s first rock and pop music TV shows. The series epitomized the spirit of youthful optimism that gripped Britain in the mid-Swinging Sixties.  Best of the 60s is a compilation from across the years of the iconic music series and features performances by The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Who, Martha & the Vandellas, Dusty Springfield, The Animals, Otis Redding, The Temptations, The Walker Brothers, Them and Marvin Gaye..  It will air at 10:30 p.m. August 18 and 11:30 p.m. August 21.
  • Agatha and the Truth of Murder plus Agatha and the Curse of Ishtar will bring outstanding entertainment based on Agatha Christie’s life and books to your living rooms on Sunday, August 22.  Agatha and the Truth of Murderwill begin at 7:00 p.m. followed by Agatha and the Curse of Ishtar at 9:00 p.m.
