From mountains and valleys to canyons and beaches, the great state of Texas is made up of a multitude of natural wonders. In celebration of those natural wonders and Earth Day, Texas PBS stations will be broadcasting “Deep in the Heart: A Texas Wildlife Story.” This stunning Texas wildlife documentary film will air at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 5 on Panhandle PBS.

Narrated by Matthew McConaughey, “Deep in the Heart: A Texas Wildlife Story” explores the native wildlife and remarkable landscapes that make Texas unique. The film follows the ever-changing relationship between humans and the natural world, and how our actions can positively and negatively impact our neighboring wildlife. Wildlife featured in the documentary range from the mysterious blind catfish to the elusive mountain lion.

“This is a story for all who love Texas,” said Ben Masters, who wrote and directed the film. “We are excited to offer our film to Texas PBS stations so that more Texans can have access to the story of Texas wild places and to spark dialogue about how to protect those places we love.”

“Deep in the Heart: A Texas Wildlife Story” is presented by Austin PBS, which acquired the rights for all ten Texas PBS stations to broadcast and live stream the 90-minute film. The PBS broadcast will include never-before-seen footage of the making of the film.

“We are so pleased to celebrate our state’s natural wonders through this partnership with Ben Masters and Fin & Fur Films,” said Kierstan Schwab, executive director of Texas PBS. “Texas is a unique place with beauty in every region and Texas PBS aims to offer our audience those unique stories.”
