“Jon Stewart: The Kennedy Center Mark Twain Prize” will air on Panhandle PBS this June. The ceremony features performances from Samantha Bee, Steve Carell, Dave Chappelle, Gary Clark, Jr., Stephen Colbert, Pete Davidson, Ed Helms, Jimmy Kimmel, Jon Meacham, Olivia Munn, Jon Oliver, Bruce Springsteen and Bassem Youssef. The evening pays tribute to Stewart’s humor and accomplishments.

Jon Stewart is known for his work as an award-winning film and television producer, bestselling author, and social activist. Through his 16-year run as host and executive producer of “The Daily Show with Jon Stewart” on Comedy Central, Stewart became known as one of America’s top social commentators and comedians. Now, in his new show “The Problem with Jon Stewart,” he examines global issues and meets with different people impacted by those issues to talk about change.

The Kennedy Center’s Mark Twain Prize for American Humor is awarded to individuals who have impacted society in a way similar to that of novelist Samuel Clemens (Mark Twain). Stewart is the 23rd recipient of the prize, and will receive a copy of Karl Gerhardt’s 1884 bronze portrait bust of Mark Twain.

“Jon Stewart: The Kennedy Center Mark Twain Prize” premieres on Panhandle PBS on June 21 at 8:00 p.m. The special was recorded at a gala performance at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts on April 24, 2022.
