Next week on Panhandle PBS, celebrate the life of John Lennon with two new specials.
First, on Thursday, October 8 at 8:00 p.m., explore the making of Lennon's first post-Beatles album, widely regarded as one of his finest. "John Lennon – Plastic Ono Band"features interviews with Yoko Ono, Ringo Starr and bassist Klaus Voormann, along with archival Lennon interviews.
"Plastic Ono Band," features songs that draw from his traumatic early life and address death, isolation, fear, love and more. This collection includes some of Lennon's most personal and cathartic songs, such as "Mother," "Love," "Working Class Hero," "Isolation" and "God."
Then, Friday, October 9 at 8:00 p.m., tune into "American Masters: Lennon NYC" for a look at the time Lennon, Yoko Ono and Sean spent in New York City in the 1970s following the breakup of The Beatles. It was during this time that Lennon crafted some of his most renowned songs and albums of his career.
"Lennon NYC" features never-before seen and heard footage from studio recordings, concerts and home movies, along with interviews with Yoko Ono and some of the artists he worked closely with during this time in his life. You can watch a preview here.
