"A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving" returns to Panhandle PBS

Since 1965, families have looked forward to watching Charlie Brown and the gang and all of their holiday antics on broadcast television; that is, until 2020.

In October of 2020, it was announced that the Peanuts holiday specials like “A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving,” and “A Charlie Brown Christmas,” would move from their home on broadcast television to the streaming network AppleTV+.

Beyond the holiday specials, AppleTV+ became the home of all things Peanuts, including “Snoopy in Space,” “The Snoopy Show,” “Peanuts in Space: Secrets of Apollo 11,” as well as other new holiday specials.

Despite making the beloved specials free to stream, Apple still received backlash as they weren’t as accessible as they had been in decades past on CBS and ABC. After an online petition gained significant support, Apple stuck a deal with PBS that would allow public television stations across the country, including Panhandle PBS, to broadcast the specials.

This year, “A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving” and “A Charlie Brown Christmas” are returning to public television stations across the country.  You can follow along with Charlie Brown and his friends as they put together a Thanksgiving feast, search for the perfect Christmas tree, sing songs, and spend time together right here on Panhandle PBS. “A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving” will air on Sunday, November 21 at 6:30 p.m.
