New Panhandle 'Teachers on the Rise' named

The Mrs. Baird's Bread and The United Family supermarket chain have named the April and May winners of their Teachers on the Rise contest.

April winners were:

  • Misty Bornemeier, Dalhart Elementary, Dalhart ISD
  • Mona Finchum, St. Anthony of Padua Catholic School, Dalhart
  • Randy Talley, Tascosa High School, Amarillo ISD

May winners are:

  • Erin Kinucan, Coronado Elementary, Amarillo ISD
  • Whitney Snider, Lorenzo de Zavala Middle School, Amarillo ISD
  • Cassie Johnson, Tulia High School, Tulia ISD

The winners each get a $100 gift card to United's markets and a $100 VISA gift card. Students who nominate winning teachers get a $50 gift card.

"We are excited to recognize these six outstanding teachers for their contributions to our schools and their community," Mary Myers, community relations manager for The United Family, said in a statement.

"Teachers play a pivotal role in the education and development of our community's future leaders and the Teachers on the Rise program provides an opportunity to reward those who go above and beyond," Myers continued.

Winners have been named during each month of the 2016-2017 school year.
