Panhandle PBS is proud to introduce "Gammy Jo!", its first-ever original animated series. This locally created show celebrates family, imagination, and life in the Texas Panhandle.
The series follows Gammy Jo and her two grandkids, Luis and Amara, as they navigate everyday life across the Texas Panhandle. The first episode is directly inspired by Panhandle PBS's multi-media initiative "Broken Bread: Examining Senior Food Insecurity in the Texas Panhandle" with support from the Mary E. Bivins Foundation.
Through their adventures, the trio also takes on relatable topics like resolving conflict, finding joy in the simple things, and even figuring out cable TV together.
- Episode 1 – “The Garden”: Luis and Amara discover how growing food can make dinner fun — and how a simple garden can support their family and community.
- Episode 2 – “The Bus Ride”: A grocery store trip turns into a lesson on conflict resolution when Gammy challenges the kids to work together before they arrive.
- Episode 3 – “Buffering”: When slow internet disrupts TV night, imagination takes over — proving that creativity thrives even when the Wi-Fi doesn’t.
"Gammy Jo!" tells stories rooted in this community, made by local people from the Texas Panhandle. Its humor, its creativity, and its heart are all reminders that big lessons can come from small places, and through fun characters we can turn local experiences into universal stories.
