Shane Smith & The Saints
After a breakout year in 2016, Austin-based Americana band Shane Smith & The Saints is looking for an even bigger 2017.
"We got to play the ACL Music Festival ... and really have gotten to tour a lot outside of Texas and Oklahoma, our primary states," Smith said. "We've had the opportunity to go to ... over 20 states. That's been really cool."
The band heads back to Amarillo for a 10 p.m. Friday show at Hoots Pub, 2424 S. Hobbs Road. The show also features The Voice finalist Josh Halverson and Southern soul duo The Gibbonses. Cover is $10 in advance and $15 at the door.
Smith said he expects a follow-up to the band's most recent album, Geronimo, fairly soon, but he's in no real hurry.
"I've been writing a lot, so where we are right now is just kind of getting songs prepared to go in and demo," he said. "We're not setting any times or dates. We just want to focus on having the songs that we need for that next step of our path, or whatever you want to call it."
