Hosted by the Amarillo Area Foundation, “The Panhandle Gives” is a nine-day charitable giving event designed to support nonprofit organizations in the Texas Panhandle. During this campaign, organizations that raise at least $250 also receive a portion of the amplification fund, which means donations made during The Panhandle Gives go even further.
This year's campaign runs from November 24 to December 3, and Panhandle PBS has a goal of raising $70,000 during “The Panhandle Gives” to support a rollout of the next-generation Texas PBS App. This multi-platform streaming solution is engineered for statewide PBS coverage with local station customization. The app supports smart TVs, streaming devices such as Roku, Fire TV, Apple TV, and iOS and Android mobile devices, and will allow users to connect with Panhandle PBS as their preferred local station, stream national and locally produced programming on demand, receive member communications, and perform in-app donations. This digital platform is the key to expanding the stationʼs membership model and selling promotional advertising to offset the decline in traditional revenues. Federal public media funding has ended, placing the financial viability of stations like Panhandle PBS at risk.
For more than 35 years, Panhandle PBS has been your neighbor in public media, sharing stories that inform, inspire and connect our community. Now, the Texas PBS App is helping shape the future of public media, bringing PBS content to more Texans than ever before. Help us be a part of that future: visit panhandlePBS.org/ThePanhandleGives to learn more and consider committing to a donation during “The Panhandle Gives.” Together, we can keep the Panhandleʼs television station strong for generations to come.
