Join Panhandle PBS for its first Savor the Goods fundraiser of the season on June 6.

The dinner — the first of four in the series — will feature Executive Chef Joe Mendez and Chef Steve Bautista of The Embassy Suites and 1887 Social House.

Savor the Goods, Local Cuisine, Ethnic Flair will begin at 5:30 p.m. June 6 at Embassy Suites Amarillo — Downtown, 550 S. Buchanan St.

Mendez and Bautista will use international influences and flavors to inspire plated culinary creations. Cocktail hour will kick off with street food samplings, followed by a Caprese salad like you’ve never seen before.  The entrée will feature scallops, tri-colored carrots and boursin risotto.  Dessert will be a Donut Stop bread pudding topped with crème fraiche.

The Savor the Goods fundraising series will continue throughout the year with the following chefs doing collaborations to offer one-of-a-kind dining experiences.

The second dinner, set for July 25 at a location to be determined, will feature Executive Chef/Owner Rory Schepisi and Executive Chef Albert Vargas of The Drunken Oyster, and Executive Chef Sam Blackburn of Northwest Texas Hospital/Sodexo.

The third event, set for September 19 at The Resplendent Garden, will feature Chef Rhonda Obenhaus of Joe’s Catering, Laura Yarber of Hank’s Brokerage and the Crave Factory, Executive Chef/Owner Jessica Higgins of Girasol Café, and Chef/Owner Laura Maner of the Kokken Food Truck in Dumas.

The final event of the series, set for November 7 at Amarillo Botanical Gardens, will feature Executive Chef Rocky Dunnam of The Bivins Foundation, Bivins Point, Nineteen49 Catering, and Rock’d Recipes and Chef Tanner Burnam of Northwest Texas Hospital/Sodexo.

Over the course of six “Savor the Goods” events in 2018, Panhandle PBS attracted 650 attendees and sparked new engagement with community members, donors, farmers, growers, and chefs.
