Vinylthon is an annual, industry-wide celebration of the unique format of vinyl. Radio stations all over the world, including AM, FM, online, commercial and non-commercial stations, come together by broadcasting vinyl only shows.
Vinylthon is organized by the College Radio Foundation, a non-profit organization based in New Jersey that is dedicated to supporting college radio stations and the students who learn from them. Their mission is to “support the activities and continuing operations of all college radio stations in North America.” To do this, they put together fundraising events like College Radio Day, and then award grants to the College Radio Fund Station Grant Program.
Amarillo College’s FM90 will be hosting their own Vinylthon event on Saturday, July 17 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. DJs will be playing 5 hours of nothing but commercial free vinyl from a variety of artists and genres.
Vinylthon is proudly supported by Spinning Jenny’s House of Music, located in Shamrock, Texas. You can listen to Vinylthon at 89.9 FM, or online at kacvfm.org.
