“Endeavour” on Masterpiece is coming to an end in its ninth season. The series first premiered in 2012 and was inspired by Masterpiece’s popular 1987-2000 series “Inspector Morse,” and based on Colin Dexter’s bestselling mysteries.
Season nine opens in the spring of 1972 – DS Morse has just rejoined the force after an extended leave to treat his drinking problem, brought on by overwork and personal troubles. The season follows Morse and his peers as they face intriguing new crimes including an unsolved case linked to the past.
“Final seasons are especially difficult,” said Susanne Simpson, Executive Producer of Masterpiece. “Our audience loves this series, as well as “Inspector Morse” and “Lewis” that preceded it. I can promise that these episodes are a beautiful and brilliant ending to this beloved show.”
In addition to the premiere of the final season, fans can go behind the scenes of “Endeavour” with the new documentary, “Morse and the Last Endeavour,” airing at 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 11. The special examines the timeline of the epic series, from the premiere of “Inspector Morse” in 1987, “Inspector Lewis” in 2006 to the final season of “Endeavour.”
The ninth and final season of “Endeavour” on Masterpiece will premiere at 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 18.
