Law enforcement and community groups will arm people with information and ways to connect with support services in observance of Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month.

A self-defense demonstration is part of the informational gathering scheduled between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Wednesday (April 26) in the Amarillo College Union Building Badger Den, at West 24th Avenue and South Jackson Street.

The Amarillo College Police Department and Family Support Services of Amarillo are sponsoring the event, which is designed to raise awareness of sexual violence's impacts and educate people about prevention. The public is invited to attend, Amarillo Police Cpl. Scott Acker said.

Family Support Services along with Quiet Storm Jeet Kune Do and several other community organizations will staff information booths at the event.
