Amarillo venues again will serve up some egg-xtremely fun activities for kids during Easter weekend.

The annual Easter Egg-citement event returns at Amarillo Zoo on Saturday, April 15, between 9:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. Costumed characters, including the Easter Bunny, will hand out eggs filled with candy at certain stations around the zoo. The zoo's lemurs, lions, tigers and other animals also will get their own Easter treats.

Also, the zoo will display replicas of eggs from different animals including the extinct elephant bird, which produced the world's largest eggs. Admission is $5 for guests age 3 and older. Kids under age 2 are free. For more information, contact the zoo at (806) 381-7911.

Also on April 15, kids will be able to explore the scientific side of eggs at Eggstravaganza!, scheduled between 9:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. at the Don Harrington Discovery Center, 1200 Streit Drive.

Tattooing eggs, bubble experiments and other activities are planned including an "Egg Scramble," or hunt, which will happen every 30 minutes between 10 a.m. and noon, with participating children grouped by age. Admission to DHDC's event $8 for members age 12 and under and $11 for non-members. Children's chaperones are free.
