Episode 1: "First and foremost, is it going to sell?"

Last Updated by Chip Chandler on June 30, 2016

In Episode 1 of "The Season," Amarillo Little Theatre managing/artistic director Allen Shankles and board members Chuck Alexander and Cindy Singleton discuss the process of selecting plays and musicals that the company will stage. "Play selection can be intense," Alexander said. Arguments happen, and board members can push hard for their selections.

For Shankles, it boils down to one thing: Balance. "Probably the No. 1 goal for me is to try to create an artistically diverse, satisfying season, but right along with that, what we need to be aware of is the economics of it — whether or not we are going to make any money on it."
