A Panhandle PBS Oral History Project

Panhandle PBS is seeking Panhandle stories throughout the 2013 – 2014 year as part of its 25th anniversary celebrations.  This oral history project will allow Texas Panhandle residents to share their stories with Panhandle PBS, the Texas Panhandle, and beyond through a story-sharing opportunity online.

Whether on farming, ranching, arts & culture, church life, humor, sports, weather, the land, or everyday living, segments from these stories will be posted to this website, and some ultimately will be shown on-air.

All interviewees will receive a DVD copy of their interview.  Video segments will be shared on this website as part of this Panhandle-wide story collection effort.  Following the project’s completion, copies of all stories will be provided to Panhandle-Plains Historical Museum for their historical archives.

Should an in-person interview at the above locations and times not be possible for individuals who would still like to share their stories, Panhandle PB S is developing an online tool kit to instruct the public on collecting video and sharing it with Panhandle PBS to be part of the project.

This project is generously made possible by support from the David D. and Nona S. Payne Foundation, Bill and Ruth Quackenbush, The Gilliland Family Foundation.
