Susan Gibson will perform Wednesday at Fire Slice Pizzeria.

Amarillo native Susan Gibson will return home Wednesday for an intimate show at one of her favorite venues.

Gibson's the latest singer-songwriter on tap for Fire Slice Pizzeria's FireSongs series, which features regional artists performing original songs in a listening-room atmosphere. The show begins at 6:30 p.m. Reservations are suggested; the venue fills up fast when she plays.

The songwriter, best known for penning "Wide Open Spaces," has cut back on her touring schedule this year — especially bar gigs. She's focusing on songwriting coaching sessions as well as house concerts and listening rooms as a way to refocus herself on her craft.

"Having a listening audience is the best way to keep yourself accountable while performing," Gibson told me last week. "It's so easy to get distracted if nobody's listening."

She'll be back for a June 16 gig for Amarillo Botanical Gardens' Music in the Gardens series, so I'll save the rest of my interview with her until then.

For now, though, check out some of my favorite videos of Gibson's performances:
