Hits for Home

Nashville songwriters and area natives Rodney Clawson, Bobby Pinson and Trent Willmon will headline a wildfire benefit concert Saturday at Hoots Pub, 2424 Hobbs Road.

Also on the bill are Red Shahan, a Fort Worth-based Americana singer-songwriter who'll give a solo show Friday, and Matt Martindale, the Amarillo-based frontman for Cooder Graw, as well as unspecified others.

Clawson, a Gruver native, has writtten hits for Jason Aldean, George Strait, Faith Hill, Big & Rich and others. Pinson, who grew up in Panhandle, had some success as a solo artist in the early 200s before segueing into songwriting for the likes of Toby Keith, Marty Stuart, Tracy Lawrence, Sugarland and others. And Willmon, born in Amarillo and raised on a ranch near Afton, also had some success in the early 2000s as a solo artists but today works largely as a songwriter and producer for such acts as Little Big Town, Cody Johnson, Josh Grider and others.

"I was deeply saddened by the loss of life as well as livestock and property from the recent wildfires," Martindale said. "I hope by playing this show I will be able to contribute in some small way to those who have suffered. We have all been affected by this tragedy and look forward to support from our amazing community of friends and fans."
