The Corey Hunt Band will play Thursday at Golden Light.

Country, punk, Tejano, rock — there's a little of almost everything this weekend. Read on for the ultimate guide to Amarillo music offerings.

The Corey Hunt Band

Though Asheville, N.C., is their home, the two guys who make up The Corey Hunt Band may have some Lone Star blood running in their veins.

"We are from North Carolina, but our main goal right now is to focus on the Texas/Oklahoma area and grow," Hunt said. "With music on the East Coast, there's no support. Either you're a hero or a zero, by which I mean you're on mainstream radio or you're nowhere."

That's not true around here, as fans of Texas country know.

"You've got radio stations that support it, people ike you calling me and supporting it, all of what the midsize and smaller venues are doing to support it," Hunt said. "It's not one thing that's different, it's the whole thing."

"We've been coming to Texas for three years, and that's why."

The band will return to Amarillo for a second time for a 10 p.m. show at Golden Light Cantina, 2908 S.W. Sixth Ave. Cover is $5.

"It's just me and Eric (Wise, on the left in the above photo), a two-piece band," Hunt said. "A lot of people, I think, think it's acoustic, but if you actually see (the show), and we get this comment all the time, we play like a big band. We don't pull back or play low-key."
