Acapulco Mexican Restaurant

El Trio Cortez will perform at 7 p.m. today at the downtown restaurant, 727 S. Polk St.

 

Amarillo Botanical Gardens

The Music in the Gardens series continues with old-school rocker Jackie Haney, a Borger who once played with Bill Haley’s Original Comets, at 7 p.m. July 7; doors open at 6 p.m. Admission is $10 for nonmembers and $5 for members.

 

Austin’s Texas Pub

Denton skunkgrass band Boxcar Bandits return to town for a 10 p.m. show today at the bar, 3121 S.W. Sixth Ave.; cover charge is $5. Amarillo band Eddie & The Eat will open. And on Saturday, songwriters Eddie Esler and Brian Wynne will swap tunes at a 10 p.m. show; cover is $5.

 

Bracero’s

Pete Y Los Releros will perform at 6:30 p.m. at the restaurant, 2822 S.W. Sixth Ave.

 

Broken Spoke Lounge

Amarillo country singer Trent Britten will perform at 9 p.m. Saturday at the bar, 3101 S.W. Sixth Ave.

 

The 806

It’s a quiet week at the coffee shop, 2812 S.W. Sixth Ave., with no shows scheduled until July 7 — alternative band Two Lions at 9 p.m., following the monthly First Thursday Art Show. (Yes, I mistakenly listed this last week, skipping a whole Thursday in my head.) Shows are free, but donations are accepted.

 

FireSlice Pizzeria

The weekly FireSongs songwriters series at the restaurant, 7306 S.W. 34th Ave., Suite 10, takes a summer break but will return in September, when it will move to Thursday nights.

 

575 Pizzeria

Folk singer Andy Chase performs at 6:30 p.m. Tuesdays at the local pizza franchise’s original location, 2803 Civic Circle.

 

La Frontera

Los Cuatros Compadres will perform at 6:30 p.m. today at the restaurant, 1401 S. Arthur St.

 

Gerb’s Wurst Bar

Dean Yates and Mary Lyn Halley of Insufficient Funds will perform at 9 p.m. today at the bar and restaurant, 7145 S. Bell St.

 

Golden Light Cantina

Singer-songwriter Aaron Stephens will play a 10 p.m. show today at the cantina, 2906 S.W. Sixth Ave.; cover is $7. Then, Lubbock rock band Phlip Coggins & The Lotharios will play a 10 p.m. July 7 show; cover is $5.

 

High Noon on the Square

Center City of Amarillo's summer series continues at noon Wednesday with a performance by a brass quintet from the Amarillo Symphony on the lawn of the Potter County Courthouse, Sixth Avenue and Tyler Street in downtown Amarillo. Lunch service begins at 11:45 a.m. with burritos from Burrito Stop; lunch is $8, but the performance is free.

 

Hoots Pub

Texas country singer Aaron Einhouse returns for a 10 p.m. show today at the bar, 2424 Hobbs Road. Opening act is singer-songwriter Charlie Stout, and cover is $7. On Saturday, Texas country singer Parker McCollum returns with a 10 p.m. show; cover is $8. As I wrote about earlier this week, Americana greats American Aquarium return for a 10 p.m. Sunday show with opening act Blue Water Highway Band; cover is $15 in advance, $20 day of show.

 

Joe Daddy’s

Jackie Haney & The Geezers Gone Wild will perform at 8 p.m. today at the restaurant, 2108 Paramount Blvd.

 

Joe Taco

Music on the patio at the popular Mexican eatery, 7312 Wallace Blvd., will include singer Cory Michael at 6 p.m. Saturday and a band to be announced at 6 p.m. Sunday.

 

Midnight Rodeo

The Amarillo Live! concert series at the bar, 4400 S. Georgia St., will continue with a 9 p.m. Saturday performance by Run Blue Run and JW Lane & County Road X. Cover is $6 for ages 21 and older and $10 for ages 18 to 20.

 

Napoli’s Italian Restaurant

Andy Chase will play around 7 p.m. today on the patio of the restaurant, 700 S. Taylor St., followed at 7 p.m. Saturday by James Owens.

 

Pescarez

Folk singer Mike Fuller will perform at 6:30 p.m. today at the restaurant, 3415 S. Bell St., Suite K.

 

The Signature at Westgate

Bluegrass duo The Purple Hulls (an act featuring identical twin sisters Katy Lou and Penny Lea Clark) will perform at 7:30 p.m. in the former Coats Clothiers at the strip mall, 2500 S. Coulter St., Suite 111. Cover is $10.

 

Sixth Street Saloon

Amarillo band Kilo Road will play at 9 p.m. today and Saturday at the bar, 609 S. Independence St. Cover is $3.

 

Smokey Joe’s

Singer Eric Degler will perform at 8 p.m. today at the restaurant, 2903 S.W. Sixth Ave. Then, Amarillo band The Solano Project will play at 8 p.m. Saturday. No cover for either night.

 

Skooterz

California rock band Spence will play at 10 p.m. today at the bar, 4100 Bushland Blvd., followed by singer Darren Welch at 10 p.m. Saturday. Cover is $5 each night.

 

Starlight Theatre

Amarillo country act The Buster Bledsoe Band will headline the latest in this year's series from Amarillo Parks and Recreation. The band will kick off at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Sam Houston Park, Line Avenue and Western Street. Admission is free.

 

Whiskey River

String Theory will play at 10 p.m. Saturday at the bar, 4001 S.W. 51st Ave.

 

Zombiez Bar & Grill

Metal bands Dischordia, Backhanded Compliment and Smells Like Someone Died will rock out at 10 p.m. today at the bar, 711 S.W. 10th Ave.; cover is $5.

 

Open mics

Maggie Burt hosts an open jam at 9 p.m. Tuesdays at Hoot’s Pub. … Mike Chism and Lee Scheetz host open mic nights at 9 p.m. Wednesdays at Whiskey River, 4001 S.W. 51st Ave. … Clint Culwell hosts open mics at 9 p.m. Thursdays at Austin’s Texas Pub
