Thousands are expected to converge downtown next week for a yearly kickoff to summer.
The Amarillo Chamber of Commerce's 10th annual Summer Celebration runs from 5 to 8 p.m. June 15 around the chamber grounds at 1000 S. Polk St. Entrance gates will be located at 10th Avenue and Polk Street, 11th Avenue and Polk Street and 11th Avenue and Tyler Street.
“We love to bring our chamber members and folks in the community together for quality events that are not only fun, but beneficial in the networking opportunities they provide," said Gary Molberg, president and CEO of the Amarillo Chamber. "Events like our Summer Celebration and Barbecue Cook-Off in September celebrate the great people and businesses in Amarillo while everyone gets to enjoy some awesome food, drinks and live music."
Amarillo rock act Velvet Funk Band will perform, and dozens of local restaurants, caterers and food and beverage companies will offer snacks and drinks.
For as much fun as the party promises, what Molberg said about its networking opportunities is key: It's not an event designed for children, necessarily.
"It’s great to see people that come out in their company shirts promoting their business, but also those that bring their employees out to reward them for the hard work they do," Molberg said. "It’s like one big company picnic.”
Tickets are $25 in advance at any PanhandleTickets outlet or $30 at the gate.
