Reservations are due Thursday for a dinner theater / murder mystery at Amarillo College.

AC's branch of Delta Psi Omega, the national theater arts honorary society, will stage Death by Dessert at 6:30 p.m. Friday in the Oak Room of the College Union Building on the Washington Street campus.

Tickets are $15, which includes the play; dinner of lasagna, chicken alfredo, pasta primavera and bread sticks; and dessert of tiramisu, cannolis and chocolate cake. Students are cooking the meal under the guidance of caterer Roger Crist and AC student Marie Southern.

"It's essentially a lighthearted dinner mystery theater," said Ray Newburg, assistant professor of theater arts. "They'll ask the audience questions periodically, and that kind of steers the direction of the storyline."

The play, by Nathan Hartswick, finds two restaurants, both located in the same building, pitted against each other for customers. The story is narrated by their landlady, Maria (played by director Tatyana Alexander), who manages to tell the story even though she's the murder victim, Alexander said.

Funds raised will help pay for student travel to theater conventions in the spring.

Reservations can be made by calling 806-371-5359 or emailing Southern at smbadger@yahoo.com.
