24 Hours in the Canyon

Bike enthusiasts will take part in what's billed as the "only simultaneous 24-hour road and mountain bike event in the country" in June.

24 Hours in the Canyon will find bicyclists racing through and around Palo Duro Canyon from noon June 3 to noon June 4, with a 12-hour race beginning at midnight June 4 and a six-hour race beginning at 6 a.m. June 4.

Registration closed May 20, but people can watch the event and donate to the cause all around Palo Duro Canyon State Park, or they can become a virtual "Ghostrider" participant for $24.

Proceeds benefit the 24 Hours in the Canyon Cancer Survivorship Center, 4514-B Cornell St.

 

Two Worlds — One Passion

A pair of popular Amarillo singers will give a joint concert in a special event for Amarillo Little Theatre.

Chuck Alexander, singer for Insufficient Funds and The Martinis, and Devlon Jones, a popular gospel and R&B performer, will sing in Two Worlds — One Passion at 8 p.m. June 9 and 10 in the ALT Mainstage, 2019 Civic Circle.

Both Alexander and Jones have performed frequently on the ALT stage. The concerts also will include Annika Spalding, Chana Smith and others.

Tickets are $25 June 9 and $50 June 10. Sponsorship packages ar $150 or $250.

Kars 4 Kids Car, Truck and Bike Show

Amarillo Activity Youth Center will host its annual Kars 4 Kids show June 10.

The show runs from noon to 4 p.m. June 10 at the center, 816 S. Van Buren St.

Categories include classic, hotrod, trucks, European, lowrider and more. Entry fee is $20 for cars and trucks and $15 for bikes. Proceeds benefit the youth center.

Blondes vs. Brunettes

Football-loving ladies will face off on the gridiron for a good cause at the annual Blondes vs. Brunettes charity game June 10.

The game kicks off at 6 p.m. June 10 at Bushland High School football stadium, 999 Farm-to-Market Road 2381. Admission is $25.

Proceeds benefit the Alzheimer's Association. Fans can donate to individual players or to the teams.

Amarillo Wicked Wine Run

Imbibe and dash in a new fundraiser for Ronald McDonald House.

The Amarillo Wicked Wine Run, an evening 5K run and 1K walk, will feature food, live music and, of course, wine. The A-Town Rockers will perform.

The event kicks off at 3:30 p.m. June 17 at Bar Z Winery, 19290 Farm-to-Market Road 1541. (It was originally scheduled for April 28 but was postponed because of inclement weather.)

Entry fee is $50; spectator tickets are $10.
