The first of three debates in the hotly contested U.S. Senate race in Texas will air live on Panhandle PBS.

The debate between U.S. Sen Ted Cruz (R-Texas) and challenger U.S. Rep Beto O’Rourke (D-El Paso) will air live at 6 p.m. Friday on Panhandle PBS as well as many other PBS stations around the state.

Cruz and O’Rourke will discuss domestic policy in a moderated debate to be held at Southern Methodist University in Dallas.

Future debates will include a domestic policy town-hall debate on Sept. 30 in Houston, and a moderated half-domestic, half-foreign policy debate Oct. 16 in San Antonio.

Panhandle PBS can be watched on cable channel 3 or over-the-air channel 2.1.
