New music specials and a celebration of a true Golden Girl of television will highlight the August pledge drive.
The drive will run Aug. 18 to 26, featuring special broadcasts of new and encore programming that show the full range of what PBS brings to viewers like you.
Among the new programs:
- Nathan Carter: Celtic Country, featuring the music sensation singing a variety of country and Irish classics. It’ll air at 9 p.m. Aug. 18 and 10 p.m. Aug. 24.
- Grateful Dead – Downhill from Here, a concert special filmed in the summer of 1989 at Alpine Valley Music Theater in East Troy, Wisc. It’ll air at midnight Aug. 19.
- My Grandpa’s Fiddle, spotlighting country singer-songwriter Tim Ryan’s celebration of the musical legacy of his grandfather. It’ll air at noon Aug. 19.
- Dionne Warwick: Then Came You, with rare, full-length performances of Warwick’s 1960s collaborations with Burt Bacharach and Hal David. It’ll air at 5:30 p.m. Aug. 19.
- Fleetwood Mac: The Dance, an intimate 1997 concert featuring the classic rock band’s favorite hits. It’ll air at 7 p.m. Aug. 20 and 10:30 p.m. Aug. 25.
- Betty White: First Lady of Television, the definitive look at the Golden Girls star’s life and career. It’ll air at 7 p.m. Aug. 21 and 5:30 p.m. Aug. 26.
- Tenors — Fan Favorites, a concert featuring the popular trio performing songs ranging from Motown to Broadway. It’ll air at 8:30 p.m. Aug. 21 and 5 p.m. Aug. 25.
- Rick Steves’ Travel as a Political Act, a special travelogue highlighting Steves’ belief that traveling offers an opportunity to experience other cultures. It’ll air at 8:30 p.m. Aug. 22.
- Chris Botti and His Band, a Great Performances special highlighting the jazz trumpeter. It’ll air at 8 p.m. Aug. 24 and 11 p.m. Aug. 26.
- And PerryComo: Till the End of Time, a collection of the crooner’s biggest hits from long-lost and restored episodes of his TV program. It’ll air at 7 p.m. Aug. 25 and 3:30 p.m. Aug. 26.
Among the notable encore airings will be Hamilton’s America at 8:30 p.m. Aug. 19 and 11:30 p.m. Aug. 24; California Dreamin’: The Mamas & The Papas at 9 p.m. Aug. 20 and midnight Aug. 24; and Mister Rogers: It’s You I Like at 1:30 a.m. Aug. 25 and 7 p.m. Aug. 26.
