Panhandle PBS, PPHM team for WWI screening, roundtable

In conjunction with a year-long focus on World War I at Panhandle-Plains Historical Museum, Panhandle PBS will screen a special episode of Nova at the museum.

Secret Tunnel Warfare will screen at 6 p.m. Feb. 9 at the museum, 2503 Fourth Ave. in Canyon.

The film explores the ways the Allies and Germans both repeatedly struggled to break the stalemate of trench warfare, including Allied engineers’ plans for a massive explosion in hidden tunnels under the German battle lines.

in the film, archeologists reveal the extraordinary scale and risks of the Allied tunnel operations.

A roundtable discussion will follow; the panel is expected to include Joe D. Rogers, Byron Pearson and Veronica Arias
