Area students enter the summer armed with free books

Hundreds of River Road Independent School District elementary- and middle-schoolers are heading into summer armed with loads of new reading material.

Students from Rolling Hills Elementary and Willow Vista Intermediate have been ferried by the busload to the River Road High School library for the annual summer book giveaway.

The program began as an idea last year conceived by the school's Teen Advisory Board and Peer Assistant Leaders groups:
