NATIONAL GALLERY is Frederick Wiseman's 39th documentary film.  It takes the audience behind the scenes on a journey to the heart of a museum with masterpieces of Western art from the Middle Ages to the 19th Century.  Viewers will "join" docents discussing the great canvases of Da Vinci, Rembrandt, and Turner; "visit" with the museum's art restoration experts using magnifying glasses, scalpels and Q-tips to repair a painting; "attend" administrative meetings where museum decisions are made; and more.

"NATIONAL GALLERY is the portrait of a place, its way of working and relations with the world, its staff and public, and its paintings.  In a perpetual and dizzying game of mirrors, film watches painting watches film."  - Zipporah Films

Tune in on Friday, August 21st at 8:00 p.m. to watch the film in its entirety on Panhandle PBS.
