The Cookie Thief Movie

A sneak peek with activities for children and families

Amarillo Public Library, Panhandle PBS and the Amarillo Museum of Art are co-hosting a special event for young children and their parents on Saturday, February 7th at 2:00 p.m. at the Amarillo Public Library’s Downtown Library.

At the event, young children and their parents will be treated to an advance viewing of The Cookie Thief (Sesame Street’s first-ever Cookie Monster special), make their own Cookie Monster pop-up cards in connection with the Amarillo Museum of Art’s Wizards of Pop art exhibition, and enjoy Sesame Street book displays.  Cookies from Ms. Piggy’s Custom Bakery Shoppe and milk from Plains Dairy will also be provided.

The Cookie Thief is a new one-hour movie from Sesame Street and PBS KIDS that debuts on Panhandle PBS on Monday, February 16th.  The nail-biting, cookie-munching thriller guest stars Rachel Dratch of Saturday Night Live fame.  In the movie, a cookie art museum has just opened on Sesame Street.  Surrounded by beautiful cookie paintings like the “Muncha Lisa,” Cookie Monster and his friends feel as if they’re in a whole new world.  But when art suddenly start to disappear, Cookie Monster quickly becomes a suspect. Can Cookie Monster clear his name? Will they find the missing art in time, or will Cookie Monster be banished from the museum forever?
