Amarillo's new plan to grow biz here

AEDC and City Council adopt economic development strategic plan.

By Karen Welch — Senior Content Producer

Amarillo has a new economic development strategy playbook, and earlier this week, I spoke with key players in designing that guide for a discussion about the city's strengths, weaknesses, solutions and opportunities.

Amarillo City Manager Jared Miller, Amarillo Economic Development Corp. President/CEO Barry Albrecht and Tony DeLisi of Avalanche Consulting walked me through new strategic plan as we sat around a table in the Panhandle PBS Studios. The result was this conversation.

We're also providing you with the Executive Summary of the draft strategic plan that became official Aug. 15, when the Amarillo EDC board and Amarillo City Council voted to adopt it.

The plan itself — a draft plan until it was voted upon — also is here.

Both plans also are available for download the Align Amarillo website. There, you'll also find other documents created as the plan was being developed by Avalanche and Community Development Strategies of Houston.

I hope you take time to #beinformed and #AmplifyAmarillo.
