Philosophy on Art:
Art is about expression. Each of us has a unique story to tell. In my art, I build narrative through juxtaposition. Combined images create a meta-language that I use for communication of my ideas.
Why do you do what you do?
Making art is compulsive, a habit, and an unstoppable force. I cannot really explain why I do it. Every since I can remember I have made things.
What is the question you never want to be asked regarding your art?
As an educator, I do not really have any least favorite questions. People often ask how I find the time. The answer is simple; I make time because being creative is a priority. Everyone, whether consciously or not, makes time for what they want to do
How do you know when a piece/series is finished?
When I walk past it and nothing needs changed. With a series, whenever I have exhausted an idea or resource. Some series do not end. There are no rules.
If you could interview any artist (living or dead) who would it be?
Hannah Hoch and/or Kurt Schwitters they were both early collagists and are constant teachers.
