PANHANDLE PBS TO PRESENT SPECIAL HOLIDAY PROGRAMMING

New programming and classic standbys join to comprise a slate of holiday shows on Panhandle PBS that the entire family can enjoy. From timeless holiday favorites performed by Irish celebrities on the all-new Celtic Woman: Home for Christmas to a frantic effort to save Christmas in Elmo’s Christmas Countdown, viewers of all ages have plenty to look forward to in the weeks ahead. Other highlights include Lawrence Welk Holiday Special: Great Moments and Memories, National Christmas Tree Lighting 2013, and the local favorite John Bayless: Christmas Rhapsody.

Lawrence Welk Holiday Special: Great Moments and Memories Saturday, Nov. 30 at 7 p.m.; Saturday, Dec. 7 at 4:30 p.m. - Norma Zimmer and other starts showcase great moments from 30 years of Christmas holiday shows.  

Celtic Thunder Christmas Sunday, Dec. 1 at 3:30 p.m.; Wednesday, Dec. 4 at 11 p.m. - Outstanding live performances pay homage to “Winter Wonderland: and more holiday favorites.

Libera: Angels Sing Christmas in Ireland Sunday, Dec. 1 at 6:30 p.m.; Saturday, Dec. 7 at 1:30 p.m. - One of the world’s most accomplished and acclaimed boy choirs, Libera, performs Christmas songs.

Celtic Woman: Home for Christmas Monday, Dec. 2 at 7 p.m.; Saturday, Dec. 7 at 3 p.m. - Vocalists Lisa Lambe, Susan McFadden and Meav Ni Mhaolchatha perform timeless holiday favorites in an all-new special. 

Il Volo Buon Natale Tuesday, Dec. 3 at 7 p.m. - The young Italian trio performs “Let it Snow,” “Silent Night” and more great holiday favorites.

Home for Christmas: The Chris Mann Christmas Special Wednesday, Dec. 4 at 10 p.m. - Classically trained singer Chris Mann performs “O Come All Ye Faithful” and more holiday favorites. 

Christmas with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir Featuring Alfie Boe and Tom Brokaw Tuesday, Dec. 10 at 7 p.m.; Tuesday, Dec. 24 at 8 p.m. - Tenor Alfie Boe and Tom Brokaw join the world-renowned choir in a holiday concert performance.

Christmas in Norway with the St. Olaf Choir Monday, Dec. 23 at 8 p.m. - The rich choral music traditions of both America and Norway are showcased in Nidaros Dom Cathedral.

Christmas at Belmont Tuesday, Dec. 24 at 7 p.m. - 700 student musicians join the Belmont School of Music faculty and the Nashville Children’s Choir.

John Bayless: Christmas Rhapsody Sunday, Dec. 22 at 3 p.m.; Wednesday, Dec. 24 at 9 p.m. - The concert pianist and Borger native performs seasonal classics.

National Christmas Tree Lighting 2013 Wednesday, Dec. 25 at 8 p.m. - The evening’s festivities include performances by Train, Janelle Monae and more.

Mr. Stink Sunday, Dec. 22 at 7 p.m. - Chloe befriends an unusual tramp (Hugh Bonneville) and learns that there is more to him that meets the eye.

Call the Midwife Holiday Special Sunday, Dec. 29 at 6:30 p.m. - Follow nurse Jenny Lee and the midwives and nuns from Nonnatus House in this special holiday program.

The Cat in the Hat Knows A Lot About Christmas! Wednesday, Nov. 27 at 7:30 a.m. & 2:30 p.m.; Thursday, Nov. 28 at 7 a.m. & 2 p.m.; Friday, Nov. 29 at 1 p.m.;  Saturday, Nov. 30 at 6 a.m.; Sunday, Dec. 1 at 6:30 a.m.; Friday, Dec. 13 at 7 a.m. & 2:30 p.m.; Tuesday, Dec. 24 at 7:30 a.m. & 2:30 p.m. - The Cat in the Hat, Sally and Nick help a lost reindeer find his way home in time for Christmas.

Curious George: A Very Monkey Christmas Monday, Dec. 9 at 7 a.m. & 3 p.m.; Saturday, Dec. 14 at 6 a.m.; Wednesday, Dec. 25 at 7 a.m. & 3 p.m. - Curious George and the Man with the Yellow Hat have a great time preparing for Christmas.

Arthur’s Perfect Christmas Tuesday, Dec. 10 at 6 a.m. & 3:30 p.m.; Wednesday, Dec. 25 at 6 a.m. - Things start to fall apart when Arthur and his family make preparations for gifts and traditions.

Elmo’s Christmas Countdown Wednesday, Nov. 27 at 9 a.m.; Wednesday, Dec. 11 at 9 a.m.; Wednesday, Dec. 25 at 9 a.m. - Elmo, Abby and Stiller the Elf must find the missing counting boxes so they can save Christmas.
